Ionia Sentinel Standard, 18 Apr 1957

Mrs. Linus Rockey of route three, Ionia received word Monday that her brother,
John Elens, 69, had died Sunday in a hospital in Catptola, Calif.  A retired
railroad switchman, he had lived near Sebewa a number of years.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy, four sons and a daughter; two sisters, Mrs. Rockey
of Ionia and Mrs. Bert McPherson of Belding; three brothers, Wm. Elens of
Sebewa, Frank Elens of Oscoda and Peter Elens of Joliet, Ill.

Funeral services and burial were held Monday in Joliet, Ill., where he had lived
a number of years before moving to California, two years ago.
