Dudley R. Elkins, age 82, of Ionia, formerly of Dewitt, passed away September 
3, 2014.  He was born January 14, 1932 in Lansing the son of Benjamin and Alta 
(Croff) Elkins. 

Dudley married Ella Suson on November 23, 1950 in Oklahoma.  He graduated from 
South Western Assembly of God University in 1960 and then went on to pastor 
churches in Texas and Wyoming.  Dudley later worked as a postal carrier until 
retiring in 1994.  He loved golfing, hunting, and especially studying the 
bible. 

Dudley is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ella Elkins of Ionia; 
children, James Elkins of Ionia, Timothy Elkins of Colorado, and Suzanne Elkins 
of Ionia; grandchildren, Audrina Guernsey, Shaulina Elkins, Mitchell Elkins, 
and James Elkins; sister, Penny (Dale) Shipman of Ohio; brother & sister-in-
law, James and Sharon Suson of Oklahoma.   He was preceded in death by his 
parents and step-father, Walter Sutton.
 
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Lyons-Muir Church 
with Pastor Bert Nelson officiating.  Interment at North Plains Cemetery.  
Visitation on Sunday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia from 2-5 p.m. and Monday, 
one hour prior to service at the church.  Those wishing, may make donations in 
Dudley’s name to the Lyons-Muir Church or Ionia Hospice.
