Sentinel-Standard - Saturday, Feb. 9, 1952

Mrs. Ellen Mae Ellicott, 70, wife of Fred M. Ellicott, died at her home in 
South Ionia Saturday, February 9, at 1 p.m.

She was taken ill on her 70th birthday January 3 and was taken to the Ionia 
County Memorial hospital where she was a patient for three days. She was 
then transferred to the Ionia Convalescent Home where she was a patient for 
two weeks. A marked improvement in her condition allowed her to return to 
her home Sunday, February 3. She was taken ill again Friday.

She was born Ellen Mae Wolcott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Wolcott, in 
Clinton county January 3, 1882. She was employed as a clerk in Bert Reed's 
grocery store on West Main street for three years prior to his selling out.

She was married to Fred Ellicott June 17, 1899 - in the Ithaca Baptist 
church where both were members. Her husband, prior to his retirement was 
superintendent of the laundry at the Ionia State hospital for 17 years. They 
have been residents of Ionia 21 years. 

Surviving besides the husband are two sons, Ford of San Francisco, Calif. 
and Maurice M. of Ann Arbor; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Hurley, of Ferndale; 
and eight grandchildren.

Services will be conducted by Dr. Howard A. Smith at Boynton's funeral home 
at 2 p.m. Monday.
