Ionia Daily Standard, 18 Apr 1961

Belding – Funeral services for Arthur G. Elliott, publisher of the Belding
Banner, weekly newspaper, who died suddenly at his home Friday evening, were
held from the Central Methodist church at 1 p.m. Monday.

The Rev. M. L. Goodman officiated.  Bearers were Russell Eslea, Burdette
Shattuck, Murl Connor, Arlo Parks, Vern Stinson and Mel Taylor.  Honorary
bearers were Lawrence Miller, Armour Shannon, Frank Raymond, Ronald Anderson,
Merritt Bryant, Waldo Stinson, Farrell Stinson, Richard Wekenman, Dale Hoover,
Wesley Stinson, Roland Parks, Charles Rose, John Stahlin, Gerald Nichols, John
Jones and Lem Weeks.

Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery, Owosso.

Among representatives of newspaper organizations attending were Dale Stafford,
president of the Michigan Press Association and publisher of the Greenville
Daily News, Elmer White, secretary of the Michigan Press Association and Vidian
L. Roe, vice president of the Michigan Press association and publisher of the
Fremont Times – Indicator.  Most Ionia county newspapers were also represented.
