Elliott, one of the well and widely known residents of Ionia for many years, died early this morning, at his home at 419 Union street, at the age of sixty-two years. He was born in Albion, Orleans county, New York state in 1856 where he worked from the time he was fifteen in different branches of the clothing business, at one time being a cutter for a firm there. In 1879 he married Miss Ida Huff, and shortly after they moved to Ionia, where he has lived ever since. He was first employed in J.T. Webber’s store, and was later in the Farmers’ and Mechanics’ store; in 1901 he entered the T.R. Buck clothing store, where he was employed until he retired in 1914. He leaves to survive him, besides his wife, two sons, Arthur of Detroit, and James of this city. A daughter, Maud, died several years ago. Prince of story tellers, few men on the business street did more that “Hite” Elliott to bring laughter out of gloom, and dispel dreariness on the desultory days.
