Oct. 1, 2016 HENRIETTA ELLIOTT Henrietta Elliott was born December 20, 1926, the second of seven children to Marshall and Hazel (Treece) Comstock. Our Mom, grandmother and great-grandmother joined her heavenly Father on September 24, 2016. Henrietta married her love, Melvin Elliott, on May 20, 1944 at the age of 17. Soon after being married, Mel was drafted. Henrietta coming from rural Ionia County followed Mel alone and by train cross country to California to visit. This was the beginning of the strength and bravery (and stubbornness) that she would teach her children (of course, not the stubborn trait though). Returning and settling down to married life, children were not to be for 17 years. Surprises were to come though. Mourning but rejoicing in the Lords promises, she leaves her children, Lisa and Tim Neeb, Tawny and Bob Barker, Roogie and Betty Elliott. Always the delight of her eyes were her grandchildren Scott and Tiffany Neeb, Staci and Randy Neff, Alex and Heather VanBuren, Derek and Alexis Barker, Brandy Elliott, Haley and Ed Bailey, Jaime Perry and Joshua Perry. She absolutely loved the visits by the great grandchildren Gizele, Ainsley, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Ty, Kaylee, Khorel, Rhylee, Ariana,Keiana, Nevaeh, Nayomii, her namesake Olivia Henrietta and arriving in a few weeks, Miss Madisyn, Aidan and Rae Lynn. Henrietta was a stay at home mom for many years until our teenage years drove her crazy and since she always wanted to drive a school bus, she started that profession and absolutely loved it. Mel passed away in 1986 which left Henrietta a widow at 60. She drove bus for a couple more years and then retired. She had to do something and since she missed the school children very much so became a crossing guard for Lake Odessa. At the age of 69, Henrietta had a life altering stroke and she could no longer do the job of a crossing guard. many years she was able to live independently with the help of her children and many people in the Lake Odessa community. They had a watchful eye out for her and our family thanks you. She also is survived by her brother Jerry and Jan Comstock, sister Geraldine and Wayne Cole, sister-in-law Bonnie Comstock, and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding her in death was her husband Melvin, her parents and her siblings Nova, Wanda, Jimmy and Victor. Service was held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Koops funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ionia county Commission on Aging, the Lake Odessa Fire department or Gideons International. Henrietta taught us to live fully, passionately, bravely and courageously. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life. Rest in peace mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, our beautiful angel.
