LAKE ODESSA-Melvin Jr.Elliott, 61, of 1138 Jordan Lake Avenue, Lake Odessa, died Jan. 2, in Butterworth Hospital Grand Rapids. He was born Oct.7, 1924, in Williamston, the son of Melvin and Pearl Welch Elliott, and attended schools in Williamston. He was married there to Henrietta Comstock on may 20, 1944; she survives. He was a veteran of U.S. Army service during World war II and was employed by Diamond Reo in Lansing for 23 years. In recent yers he had been employed as the Manager of Cappon Quik Market in lake Odessa. He was a member of the Lake Odessa VFW. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs.Tim (Lisa) Neeb and Mrs.Kent (Tawny) Van Buren, both Lake Odessa; a son, Roogie at home and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Hoppes of Sunfield and Margaret Crandall of DeWitt. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. from the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, with the Rev. Ben Ridder officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 pm.
