Elliott, who died at his home, 419 Union street, early Wednesday morning, was perhaps one of the most widely known men as well as one of the most respected and beloved in the county. He was born in June 1856 in Orleans county, New York. At the age of fifteen he entered the employ of a clothing firm and worked through all the branches of the clothing salesman’s trade. In 1879 he married Miss Ida E. Huff, also of Albany, N.Y., and in 1886 moved to Ionia where he became connected with the J. T. Webber clothing store, then the Farmers and Mechanics’ store, and in 1901 entered the l. R. Buck store, where he was a faithful and influential salesman until 1914 when his failing health forced him to retire. The apt two years he has been almost helpless but thorough it all he never lost the happy smile, cheerful word that characterized his life. He leaves a widow and two sons, Arthur of Detroit and James of this city, also a brother and sister in Albany, N.Y. The funeral will be held from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev.
