Ionia Sentinel Standard, 27 & 28 Aug 1935

A telegram has been received here telling of the death of James A. Elliott, 46,
of Detroit, former Ionia resident.  He died Sunday night of a heart ailment.  

Mr. Elliott was born in Ionia March 24, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram R.
Elliott.  He attended the Ionia schools, and for a number of years was salesman
for the Ypsilanti-Reed Furniture factory.  He was also salesman for the Mutual
Benefit Life Insurance company, and worked at the Fuller jewelry store in 1932
and 1933.  He had been in Detroit the past two years, and was employed at the
Hudson Motor company.  He was formerly a member of the Ionia Elks.

Surviving are one son, H.R. Elliott, of Ionia, and a brother, A.B. Elliott, of
Detroit.

The body will be brought to Ionia and funeral services will be held from the
home, 519 Union street, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock.

Funeral services for James A. Elliott, of Detroit, who died Sunday night, were
held from the home, 519 Union street, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock, with Rev.
Paul L. Stewart, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating.  Bearers were Dr.
Roy O. Lintner, William Bannon, R.N. Stevenson, Richard Vosper, Max Culehan, and
Leonard Swanson.  Flowers were in Charge of Miss Lucille Wilson, Mrs. Max
Culehen and Mrs. Ione Davidson.  Interment was in Highland Park cemetery.  

Relatives from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Elliott
and daughter, of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Lamont, Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Lou
Lamont, Charlotte; Mrs. J.H. ___ and Mrs. A.N. Austin, of Saginaw.
