Jacqueline E. Ellis, age 88, of Elkhart, Ind. and formerly of Ionia, died at 
Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart, Ind., on June 8, 2009.

Jacqueline was born April 2, 1921, in Ludington to Donald W. and Jessie B. 
(Grant) Ackerman. She was a homemaker and married Robert H. Ellis Jan. 18, 
1942 in Eaton Rapids. He died April 11, 1988. She was a 1938 graduate of Ionia 
High School, an avid bowler and golfer she was a member of the Women's 
International Bowling Congress, she was an attending member of more than 30 
national bowling tournaments, member of the Elkhart Bowling Hall of Fame, past 
president of the Elkhart Women's Bowling Association, and won the Truth Roll 
Off twice, member of the Christiana Creek Country Club where she was on the 
Ladies 9th and 18 Hole Groups and she was a former member of the Beta Sigma 
Phi Sorority.

Jacqueline is survived by two daughters Jodie K. (Paul) Trimmer of Elkhart and 
Carolyn J. Arnold of Bristol, Va.; son Donald C. (Vicki) Ellis of Elkhart; 7 
grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m.. on Friday at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman 
Funeral Home in Elkhart, Ind. Private family services will be held with Rev. 
Lore Blinn Gibson officiating. She is to be cremated. Memorials can be made to 
Elkhart County Humane Society or Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
