Ellis Died in Traverse City Monday. News of the death of William E. Ellis reached the city Monday evening. A telegram came in the afternoon to his family, notifying them of his critical condition, followed by a later one of his death in the asylum at Traverse City, where he was taken last week. Mr. Ellis’ poor health for the past two years and the recent death of his wife is undoubtedly the cause of his breakdown in body and mind, followed so quickly by his demise. An order was issued out of Probate court last week on account of his condition to have him taken to Traverse City, in hopes that the treatment given him there might prove beneficial and restore him to health, but he grew worse, there seeming to be a general breaking down of his system from acute brain fever. The deceased leaves his mother Mrs. C. Dimick Ellis, and four children, Gladys, Byron, Carroll and Mildred. Ellis Ranney went to Traverse City for the remains which were brought here Wednesday morning. The funeral will be held at his late residence Friday, at 1:30 p.m. and the remains will be laid to rest in Otisco cemetery beside his wife, who preceded him only a few short months ago. He also leaves a sister, Miss Mae Ellis of Pueblo, Col., who was notified immediately by wire of her brothers death. Dr. E.R. Ellis and Maj. Edward D. Ellis and wife of Detroit are here to attend the funeral.
