Ellis, aged 83 years, who died in a Detroit hospital Friday afternoon, following an accident, was buried by the side of her husband the late George W. Ellis, in Otisco cemetery, Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the home of Ellis Ranney, a nephew, in Greenville, with Rev. St. Clair Parsons officiating and paying a beautiful eulogic tribute to the deceased. Mrs. Ellis was born in Connecticut July 10, 1852 and was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Hiram H. Belding, spending her early childhood in Chicago. In 1887 she was married to George W. Ellis and for some years made her home in this city on what is now the Ranney farm, later making her home in Philadelphia. Much of the last two score years of her life has been spent with her nieces, the Misses Hattie and Carrie Ranney and with nephews, Ellis and Roy Ranney of Greenville. Mr. Ellis died while a guest at Hotel Belding in this city in 1909 and he was buried in Otisco cemetery, and the remains of Mrs. Ellis were placed by his side Monday afternoon. Mrs. Ellis is remembered by many of the older residents of this city as a kindly, gentle woman of fine character and her passing, even at the ripe old age which she attained, is being spoken of with regret by her friends who in speaking of her recall many fine and generous deeds of charity which marked her life.
