The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, March 26, 1921

William V. Ellison was born in Herkiiner county, New York, January 30, 1846 
and died March 21, 1921 aged 75 years, 1 month and 21 days.  When 3 months old 
his parents moved to Ionia county, Michigan where he lived until 1872 when he 
was married to Anna R. Hyland and settled on the farm in Keene township which 
has been his home for 50 years.  He cleared the forest and endured all the 
hardships of pioneer life.  To this union 5 children were born one of whom 
died in infancy.  In 1881 his wife passed to her reward.  In 1883 he was 
married to Hannah J. Smith and to this union one son was born.  He united with 
the Easton M. E. church under the pastorate of Reverend Vanderwalker, which 
faith he has always kept and during his last days he expressed his desire to 
go home and be at rest.  He leaves to mourn besides his wife and children, 5 
sisters, 6 brothers, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grand children and a host of 
friends.  The funeral was held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Saterle 
officiating.  Burial took place in Easton cemetery.
