Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Minnie Ellison, 93, formerly of West Washington street died Tuesday morning at 
Ionia Manor where she had been a patient for four years.  She was born in Ferris 
township in Montcalm county June 1, 1883, the daughter of Steven and Clarissa 
Childs Woodard.  She attended rural schools in Montcalm county and married 
William Swain, making their home in Ionia.  He preceded her in death in 1931.  
She married E. W. Ellison in 1932 and continued to live in Ionia.  Mr. Ellison 
preceded her in death in 1951.

She is survived by three sons; Bird Woodard and Delbert Swain of Ionia, Ivan 
Swain of Lansing and one daughter, Mrs. Vernis Verby of Pal Springs, California.  
Ten grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren also 
survive.

Services are Friday at 10 am from the Leddick funeral home in Ionia with Rev. 
Nolan Williams of Zion United Methodist church officiating.  Burial is at Tuttle 
cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the Leddick funeral 
home Wednesday, 7 to 9 pm and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
