Ionia Sentinel, 11 Nov 1955

Leon Elsworth, 66, died Thursday at his home in Chicago.  Born in Lyons, Mr. 
Elsworth went to Battle Creek when a small child and to Chicago about 1928.

Until his retirement a year ago he was with the Aragon project on atomic 
research at the University of Chicago and received a presidential citation for 
his work with the Atomic Energy Commission.  Since retiring Mr. Elsworth has 
worked on cancer research.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret, his mother, Mrs. Belle Elsworth of Battle 
Creek, a daughter and four grandchildren in Chicago.

The body is expected to arrive at the Morris funeral home in Saranac Saturday 
afternoon and funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 with 
the Rev. Glenn McCarty officiating.  Interment will be in the family plot at 
Saranac cemetery.
