The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, November 7, 1983
Robert Eugene Elvert, 24, of King Street, Ionia, died early Sunday morning in 
Ionia of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.  He was born in Ionia 
December 8, 1958, the son of Robert and Emma Edmonds Elvert. 

He attended Ionia Public Schools and Ionia High School and served in the U.S. 
Army for three years, part of the time in Hawaii.  Following military service 
he worked at General Tire Corp. in Ionia and more recently in construction 
work.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Robert and Yvonne Elvert of Ionia 
and his mother and stepfather, Cecil and Emma Furman of Ionia; three brothers, 
Michael of Maine, and Edward and Ronald of Ionia; a sister, Suzanne Elvert, of 
Ionia; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Oneta Elvert of Ionia; his maternal 
grandmother, Mrs. Sue Edmonds of Belding; and step grandparents, Mrs. Regina 
Harp and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Furman of Ionia.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, the 
Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating.  Burial will be in 
Easton Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial has been established for the Ionia County 
Substance Abuse Council, in care of the funeral home.
