Ionia Daily Sentinel – Monday, 1 April 1912
 Mrs. Hannah Elwess died at four o’clock Sunday morning at her home 511 West 
Main Street after an illness of several weeks with gastric fever, followed by 
cardiac exhaustion.  Her condition was improved up till about two hours before 
she died and her recovery was looked for.  Her death came as a shock.  She 
leaves five children, Frank of Ionia, Mrs. Lou Blume, Mrs. George Wenner of 
Port Huron, Mrs. M. D. Wilson of Ionia and another son in Chicago.  The funeral 
will be at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday from the house.
