Elzey, 80, of route 1, Ionia, died Monday morning at Ferguson Droste hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born February 23, 1889 in Wells county, Ind., the son of Daniel and Phoebe Lutz Elzey. Married to Anna Pearl Tanner in 1917, she died in 1933. In 1937 he was married to Dana Hoy who died in 1968. He and his wife Dana were instrumental in organizing the Church of Nazarene in Ionia. At present he was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist church. He was a carpenter by trade. He leaves a son Floyd of Honolulu, Hawaii; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Hoffman of Newaygo, Mrs. Louella Hopkins of Ionia, with whom he made his home the past year, Mrs. Shirley Fredricks, Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Rollie Elzey of Tampa, Fla. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Avenue Baptist church. Rev. John Hadley will officiate and interment will be at Saranac cemetery.
