Ionia Sentinel Standard, 20 Jan 1969

Dowey Emelander, 67, formerly of route 4 Ionia, died Sunday morning following a 
lengthy illness. He was born February 9, 1901 in Newaygo County the son of 
George and Effie Emelander.  Before leaving Ionia he was an employee of 
Ypsilanti-Reed Furniture company.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Claude Thomas of route 4, Mrs. George Hanline 
of Ionia, Mrs. Arthur Matchikowski, of Detroit and Mrs. Henry Weatherbee of 
Ionia; three brothers, Harry Emelander, route four, Tony of Ionia and George of 
route one, Belding.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home 
Rev. Theodore Forbes of First Christian church will officiate and interment 
will be at Balcom cemetery.
