Death was attributed to a heart condition. A native of Michigan, he was born in Lowell, February 20, 1912, a son of George and Effie Boomis Emelander and while a boy lived with his parents on a farm in Berlin township, attending Eddy school. He married Bertha Wetherbee in Grand Rapids, December 21, 1933, then he and his bride moved to Ionia where they made their home since. He continued working for Ionia city until last April when he became subject to a heart condition. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Surviving besides his wife Bertha are; five sons, Lawrence, Gerald, Ronald, Roger and James, all of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. George Colwell of Ionia; two brothers, Harry of Ionia and George of Belding; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Wetherbee and Mrs. George Hanline both of Ionia, and Mrs. Arthur Matschikowski of Detroit. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren. The body is at Leddick Funeral home where friends and relatives may call Wednesday evening. Services will be at the funeral home at 2 pm July 15, the Rev. Charles Fullmer of First United Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Balcom cemetery.
