Ionia Sentinel Standard – Saturday, 3 September 1949 Emery H. Eldridge, 78, of Lake Odessa, died early Friday morning in Belding City hospital. He had been ill for about 10 days and had entered the hospital Thursday night. He had been staying with his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ray of Belding. Eldridge was born in Gratton Township, Kent County, the son of Edgar and Mary Eldridge on May 13, 1871. He had lived in Grand Rapids for 34 years where he worked for the Grand Rapids Motor Coach Co. For the past 15 years he had been living on his farm north of Lake Odessa. He is survived by his widow, Georgiana, four daughters, Mrs. Alice Smith of Newaygo, Mrs. Hazel Wilson of Comstock Park, Mrs. Catherine Ray and Mrs. Shirley Mae Warner, both of Belding; two sons, George of Belding and William Clark of Hastings; one brother Jay of Lake Odessa and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 pm from the Carr-Wesleyan Methodist church, north of Lake Odessa. Burial will be in River Ridge cemetery, Belding. The body was taken to the Fales-Hoffman funeral home, Belding, where it will remain until the service. The Rev. Raymond Durkee, former pastor of the church, will officiate. Eldridge was a member of the church.
