Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, 24 May 1956

John J. Endres, 70, died Wednesday evening, May 23, at 5:45 at Ionia County 
Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient for five weeks.

He was the youngest of four children of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Endres Sr., all 
members of his family preceded him in death.

He attended Ionia public schools and the SS Peter and Paul academy and at the 
age of 15 began training for the plumbing trade.  Leaving Ionia from 1905 until 
1922, he returned in 1923 following the death of his wife Elizabeth and one 
son.  He was formerly employed at the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company, the 
Hayes Body Corp. of Ionia and for the past 31 years was employed in the power 
plant of the Michigan Reformatory.  He had been planning to retire this summer.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church, Loyal Order of Moose and Elks 
lodges.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Grace Elliott and one son Ronald.

Rosary will be said at the Myers funeral home, Friday evening, May 25 at 7:30.  
Funeral services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul church, Saturday morning, 
May 26 at 10 o’clock.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
