Ionia Sentinel, Thursday, January 9, 1941

John Endres, 78, died at his home, 424 Center street, Wednesday evening at 
11:20 p.m. following a three-day illness.  He had been suffering for the past 
three or four years with a heart ailment and had been in bed since Monday when 
he suffered a heart attack.

He came to Michigan with his uncle and grandmother from Germany in 1870.  They 
settled near Grand Rapids and in 1880 moved to Ionia.  On May 12, 1921, he was 
married at SS. Peter and Paul church of Ionia to Marie Ollech of Ionia.  He was 
a member of SS. Peter and Paul church.  

Surviving are his wife, Marie, and three children by a former wife; one son, 
John William of California; and two daughters, Mrs. Frank O’Mara of near Lake 
Odessa and Mrs. Floyd H. Grilley of Grant.  One son, Steve, preceded him in 
death.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the SS. Pete and Paul 
church.  Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet cemetery.  The Holy Name society, 
of which he was a member, will meet at the residence at 8 p.m. Friday to recite 
the rosary.
