England, 79, of 619 Academy street, died Saturday evening at Meitler convalescent home in Portland where she was a patient one day. She was an elementary teacher 43 years and retired 13 years ago. She began her teaching career in Portland after receiving her degree from Eastern Michigan university at Ypsilanti. Miss England was born in Hubbardston June 14, 1885. She is survived by a nephew, Frederick England of Portland and a niece, Mrs. Margaret Terry of Royal Oak, and several distant nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Neller funeral home with the Rev. Robert Treat of Portland officiating and interment at Portland cemetery. Bearers will be Arthur Megarah, Leon Lockwood, Robert Lockwood, Dee Meitler, Donald French and John Hecox.
