Suicide at Saranac.

David H. English, a prominent farmer, and an old resident of the township of
Boston, Ionia county, committed suicide Monday night by hanging himself from the
rafters in the barn situated on his farm about four miles south of Saranac.

For several nights past he has slept in the barn so that he was not missed until
the morning.  Not coming to the house at his regular hour his wife became
suspicious that something was wrong and upon going to the barn discovered his
dead body hanging from the rafters.  He was a veteran of the civil war, a well
to do farmer, and about 60 years of age.  He was an eccentric individual and the
cause of his act is unknown.
