English - Myrtie M., daughter of David H. and Sarah A. English was born Nov. 26, 1871 and entered into rest, March 1, 1909. Myrtie grew to womanhood on the South Boston farm where her grandfather, Edson English, located when he moved from Vermont 1840. In childhood she attended the district school at the North Bell and the Select School at the Grange Hall, later she was a student at Clarksville seminary and the high schools of Lowell and Ionia. When a little girl, Myrtie united with the M. E. church at South Boston and when she and her mother moved to Saranac after her father’s death she joined the M. E. church of this village by letter. When health permitted she was a regular attendant at services and a willing worker to promote the interests of the church. While living in the country she was a member of the South Boston grange and a regular attendant of its meetings. She was also an interested member of the Saranac Woman’s Relief Corps and had been chosen secretary and president of the society. During her illness of more than seven week’s duration she bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude. She was very patient and hopeful of recovery to the last. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, a widowed mother and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Saranac Methodist church Thursday morning, March 4, conducted by Rev. G. K. Fairbanks. Interment in South Boston cemetery.
