Lake Odessa Wave-Thurs. January 22, 1953

RETIRED FARMER DIED UNEXPECTEDLY FRI.
Austin B. Erb 80, retired farmer died unexpectedly at the home of his son, Leo 
in Grand Rapids, Friday evening. A native of Canada he came with his parents 
when a small boy to Kansas, later coming to this area near Elmdale. Before 
moving to a farm north of Freeport, the family lived east of the Mill school 
northwest of town.

Retiring from farming about seven years ago, they moved to Freeport residing 
there until after the death of his wife Louisa, June 1, 1950. Since then he has 
made his home with his five children.

Surviving are four sons, Ira and Jay of Clarksville, Leo of Grand Rapids, and 
Roy of Lake Odessa, a daughter Mrs.Clarence (Iva) Birman of Lake Odessa, grand 
and great-grandchildren.

Mr.Erb reposed at the Beattie Funeral Home, Clarksville where prayer service was 
held at 2 Monday before take n to the Mennonite Church, north of Freeport where 
services were held at 2:30 with burial in the Mennonite Cemetery. Rev. Daniel 
Zook officiated.
