Ionia Standard, 12 Mar 1897

Died, Feb. 5, 1897, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Lydia Houghton, Mrs. 
Jane Erdman, of Orange, aged 73 years, 4 months and 6 days, from the effects of 
a shock of paralysis on Feb. 2.  Mrs. Erdman was an old resident in this 
community.  She lived many years in Canton township, Wayne county, Mich., from 
which place the family moved here about twenty-one years ago, and in that time 
she made many friends here.  The funeral ceremonies were held at the Wesleyan-
Methodist church on Sunday, Feb. 7, Rev. J. McLane officiating, and was largely 
attended, after which the remains were interred in the Balcom cemetery near 
Ionia, where the husband of the deceased was buried.  The family and friends 
have the sympathy of the entire community, for the deceased was loved by all 
who had the honor of her acquaintance. 

May she rest in peace.
