Axel E. Erickson, 85, of Haddix Road, Lake Odessa, died Monday morning, Aug. 27,
in Pennock Hospital where he had been a patient for one week.  Mr. Erickson had
been a patient at Barry County Medical Facility for 1 ½ years.

He was born Feb. 27, 1894, in Alto, the son of Nels and Emma (Christena
Magnuson) Erickson.  He married Jennie Sandahl on March 3, 1923, in Grand
Rapids.  She preceded him in death in 1973.

Mr. Erickson was a life-long resident of the Ionia County area.  He was a member
of the West Berlin Wesleyan Church and the Ionia County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald of Lake Odessa, Elmer of Brington, Fla.;
eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Elof of Grand Rapids.

Services will be held Thursday at the West Berlin Wesleyan Church with the Rev.
Alvin Barker and Pastor Kenneth Hill officiating.  Burial was in Lakeside
Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the West Berlin Wesleyan Church.
