                                LAID TO REST

C.M. Ernsberger, Prominent Campbell Farmer Buried Friday.

Christopher M.Ernsberger was born in Richland Co., Ohio, March 14, 1840. His 
early life was spent at this birth place where he resided until the age of 33, 
when h was joined in marriage to Julia A.Mowers, April 2, 1872. His residence 
was at the old homestead until in 1882 when they removed to Ionia CO., Mich. 
With the exception of four years spent in Southern Missouri he has been a 
resident of Ionia County for twenty years.

He possessed a robust constitution and a quiet disposition. He was seldom ill. 
After an illness of about 3 weeks he passed quietly away at about the midnight 
hour of Monday, Sept. 18, 1906. He leaves a widow and seven children and two 
brothers and a sister in Northern Ohio to mourn his sudden departure.

In his early young manhood he united with the Lutheran church. On removing to 
Michigan he joined the united Brethren Church because his own church had no 
congregation here. Likewise during his residence in Missouri he united with the 
M.E.Church and on returning to Michigan he united with the M.E.Church at Lake 
Odessa of which he was a member at the time of his death. Bro Ernsberger lived 
an unpretentious, sincere Christin life, always maintaining Christian devotions 
in his household as well as at the Houses of God and was loved and honored as a 
true Christian where ever he lived. He died as he lived-a child of God.

Funeral services were held in the W.E.Church on Friday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. 
conducted by his pastor, Rev.J.C. Cook of Lake Odessa. Interment was made at 
Clarksville cemetery.
