He was born Oct. 19, 1905 in Ionia, the son of Frederick and Ida Shively Erridge. He attended the Ionia schools and joined Company H. of the Michigan National Guard, in which he served during World War II. He was discharged in 1943. He married Neta Gable Nov. 10, 1943, in San Jose, Calif. and they returned to Ionia to make their home. He worked at the Stafford Furniture Factory, Ionia Manufacturing and A.O. Smith Corp., retiring in 1970. Following his retirement, he spent much of his time at a family cottage on Lake Stanton. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Girard-Horrocks Post 37 of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Neta; one son, Frederick of Ionia; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Victor and one sister, Florence Taylor, both of Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. F. Michael Valentine of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the First Christian Church and the Ionia County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
