He was born March 29, 1928 in Ionia, the son of John F. and Rita (Hummel) Erridge. He was educated in the Ionia Public Schools. He married Janice Hackett in 1948. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Most of his working life was spent in the automobile body shop business. The couple owned the Northside Party Store in Ionia before retiring in 1983. They moved to Crystal from Ionia in 1985. He was a life member of Ionia V.F.W. Post #224 and formerly a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge. He was an avid bowler. He is survived by his wife, Janice; two sons, Douglas (Charlene ) Erridge, and Gary (Pamela) Erridge, both of Ionia; four daughters: Judith Ciganick; Paula (Robert) Nummer; Anne Rusnell, all of Ionia; Theresa (David) Holcomb, of Morley; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Audrey (Neal) Garfield, of Florida; Phyllis Whitelock, of Muir; Kay Crissman, of Shiloh; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral and committal services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia. The Rev. Kenneth Harger will officiate. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
