November 2025 Excerpts from Ionia Obituary WILLIAM "JIM" JAMES ERSKINE II Died November 18, 2025-age 88 of Ionia. Born August 13, 1937 in Rockford,Illinois, son of William, & Mary (Haymond) Erskine. Jim met Jane Donaldson in New York City, on a blind date, while he was in the Navy, stationed in Maryland.They were married 2 years later on January 16, 1960. Jim graduated from Michigan State University with a BA & worked as a Counselor at the Michigan Reformatory in Ionia. He returned to MSU & received his MA. He worked as a School Psychologist for the Ionia Intermediate School District until his retirement. Jim was an avid golfer & enjoyed the time he spent on the course with good friends & family. He loved the outdoors & taking family on annual camping trips & having adventures. He also loved sailing, & his dream was to own his own sailboat, which he eventually did. Surviving is his wife, Jane Erskine, of Ionia, daughters, Susan (Jim) Koenig of St.Joseph & Betsy Hawken of Ionia. Son, Bill (Karen) Erskine of Ionia. Grandchildren, Jimmy (Emma) Koenig, Michael (Richele)Koenig, Emmy (Tyler) Deuel, Tommy Koenig, Jake Koenig, Audrey Hawken & Will Erskine. Great-grandchildren, Kate, Jimmy, Mateo & Samuel, Brother, John Erskine & many nieces & nephews, cousins & friends. Preceded in death by his parents & sister, Annie Haarer. The family would like to express their deepest thanks for jIm's peaceful passing to Hospice. Cremation has taken place & there will be no services, at this time.
