She had been ill for the past year. Mrs. Esch was an active member of several local organizations and was widely known in the vicinity. Surviving are the husband, Allie Esch, one son, Orland Sines, who was recently discharged from service in the Army; one sister, Mrs. Ida Thrams, of Sebewa; two brothers, Marion Franks, of Sunfield; and Clyde Franks, of Grand Rapids. There is also one grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Esch was born in Sebewa Township, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Franks. Deceased was a member of the Methodist Church, Dorcas Society, and a past president of Woman’s Relief Corps and the local chapter Blue Star Mothers. Mrs. Esch was greatly interested in establishing the Blue Star Mothers here and her organization work in forming the chapter was largely responsible for its start here. She was also its first president. Funeral services were held at Neller funeral home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Warren Brown, of Marshall, and Rev. George Stanford, of Portland Methodist Church, officiating. Rev. Brown was a pastor of the local church several years ago. Burial was in Portland Cemetery . The bearers were C. J. Hill, Floyd R. Martin, Basil Kinney, John Burris, Charles Helms, Webster Linebaugh.
