The Ionia Sentinel, October 1997

Jesse L. Esham, 69, of Ionia died Oct. 17, 1997.  He was born Aug. 29, 1928 in 
Easton Township, the son of Jesse and Ruth (Munger) Esham.  He went on to 
marry Mary Townsend on June 28, 1952 in Ionia.  He worked for Mitchell-Bentley 
in Ionia for 17 years.  He then went on to work for the State of Michigan from 
1970 until he retired in 1981.  He was a past member of the Ionia Sheriff 
Posse and a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Esham of Ionia; two daughters, Sandra 
(Ronald) Heintzelman of Ionia and Brenda…(portion missing)…ters, Florence 
(George) Wright of Ionia, Myrtle Bayly of Ionia and Patsy Luff of Florida; 
seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by 
two sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Esham will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Shiloh 
Community Church with Rev. Ken Harger officiating.  Interment will be at 
Easton Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 
at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Anyone wishing may make contributions to 
the Kidney Foundation or the Ionia Commission on Aging.
