ESHAM
Mary Joan Isham, age 88 of Ionia, passed away peacefully a home on Friday, June 
4, 2021.Mary was born on March 14, 1933, the daughter of Emmet and Lavancha 
(Ingraham) Townsend.

She had a love of traveling, almost seeing all 50 states; Ice skating, 
snowmobiling, square dancing and county dancing. She loved music, camping, 
lighthouses and Christmas.

Mary is survived by her fiance', Ralph Bowerman; children, Sandy Heintzelman and 
Brenda Travis; grandchildren, Shannon Heintzelman (Holly), Shane (Jessica) 
Heintzelman, Shawn (Paul) Frisbie, Shasta (Ken) Cole, Lee Travis (Leisha), 
Jessica (Joe) Lafler and Shalyn Heintzelman(Eric), 12 great-grandchildren and 2 
great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jesse Esham; siblings, 
Albert Townsend, Harry Townsend, Weston Townsend, Iva Nobel and Rachel 
Jerosimich.

A funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 10, at Lake Funeral Home 
in Ionia. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and 
Thursday from 10-11 AM. Memorial Contributions can be made to Spectrum Hospice.
