Essick, 50, lifelong resident of Ionia, died Monday morning at about 1 a.m. at his cottage at Walloon lake where he had been spending the summer with his daughter, Miss Elizabeth Essick, of Ionia. Mrs. Essick died February 4 of this year at their home 644 East Main street, where the couple had lived since 1883. They had been married 64 years. Mr. Essick had been connected with the Michigan state reformatory as engineer, in Ionia for 55 years until the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Ionia commandery, No. 11, K.T., the Blue lodge, No. 36. F. and A.M. and also of the Ionia chapter No. 14, R. and A.M. Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth, of Ionia, and Mrs. Carroll Seven of Grand Rapids and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
