Ionia Sentinel Standard, 30 Oct 1984

Lizzie Essington, 90, 9527 Dexter Trail, Pewamo, died Monday in a Sheridan
hospital.  She was born Sept. 14, 1894 in Illinois, the daughter of Lonzo and
Emaline Hawkins.  She had worked at AC Spark Plug in Ionia.

Her husband, Samuel, and two sons, LaVerne and Francis, preceded her in death. 
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn McCrumb of Pewamo and Arvilla Kissane of
Portland; 13 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are one
brother, Theodore Hawkins, of Anargo, Ill.; and one sister, Florence Nelson of
Ionia.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home in
Portland, with the Rev. Dow Chamberlain officiating.  Burial will be in the
Balcom Cemetery.
