Portland Review, 4 Mar 1919

The remains of John J. Estep were brought from Ionia to Portland, Thursday, 
funeral services having been held at SS. Peter and Paul church in the first 
named city.  Years ago Mr. Estep was a prominent resident of Portland.  He was 
a stockbuyer and known for miles around.  Later he moved to Muir and then to 
Ionia.  Fifty years ago he buried his first wife and in 1870 married Louise 
Belcher, of this place.  The three surviving children are John Estep, Delphos, 
O.; Mrs. Newell, Six Lakes; Mrs. Margaret Helmer, Ionia.  He was 82 years old.
