ALWAYS A KIND NEIGHBOR AND FAITHFUL FRIEND. FUNERAL AT BAPTIST CHURCH WEDNESDAY. ------------ Mrs. Rebcca Estep of Sebewa died Monday after an illness of only a few days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maud Sowning in Sebewa. She was the mother of our townsman Byron Estep and the late Mrs. Russel Goodemoot. She had been in comparatively good health for one so old through the winter, being able to come to Lake Odessa on Easter, where she spent the day with children and grandchildren at the Goodemoot home. Her life was an influence for good to her posterity and many grandchildren and several great grandchildren will call her blessed. ----------- OBITUARY Rebecca Schaffner was born March 20, 1833, in Crawford Co., O., where she lived until ten years of age when she moved with her parents to Seneca County. At the age of seventeen she united with the local M. E. church. She resided in Seneca County until March 25, 1852, when she was united in marriage to William Estep. They moved to Sebewa, Ionia County, the same spring and located on a farm on which they lived until his death which occurred September 23, 1904. From then on Mrs. Estep lived with her daughter on the same farm on which they settled in 1852. To this union were born five children; Charles A. Byron M., Ward B., Maude E. Downing and Dora Goodemoot, all of whom survive except the latter. In the year 1860 she with her husband united with the Baptist church of Sebewa. She lived a faithful Christian life until her death on April 26, 1920 at the age of 87 years, one month and six days. She was a kind indulgent wife and mother, a true friend and neighbor, always ready to assist those in need and sympathize in times of affliction. Many friends and neighbors mingle their grief with the children now left to mourn their departed mother. Funeral services were held at the Sebewa Baptist church, Rev. F. M. Early officiating.
