Evans Died Monday Morning after Short Illness. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Evans were shocked on Monday morning to learn that Mrs. Evans had passed to the other side. She had been very sick for some time but on Saturday last she was so much better that hopes were entertained for her complete recovery. Sunday however she grew worse rapidly and the end came at 2:10 Monday. Besides a devoted husband, a father and mother, three sisters and two brothers and a bright little three weeks’ old baby are left to mourn the loss of a loved one. Margaret Mellis was born in Perth Scotland, April 23, 1872, and at the time of her death was 34 years, six months and two days old. She moved with her parents to Canada when but five years of age where she continued to reside until 1900 when she came to this city to be joined in marriage to Mr. Evans whom she had previously met in her old home in Canada. Deceased was a member of the Lady Maccabees of the World in which she carried a policy of $250. The funeral was held at the M.E. church on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Sheehan officiating, at 2:30 and the remains were borne to their last resting place in Riverside cemetery. Mr. Evans and the baby girl have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
