Mary M. Conner was born near Muir and was the daughter of Frank and Mary Conner, pioneer farmers. She attended Muir high school and Ypsilanti Normal college after which she taught school for two years in the Shaffer rural school and seven years in the Muir public schools. She was married to Dr. Fred D. Evans and the couple had resided at 105 Puritan avenue, Highland Park. Mrs. Evans was a member of First Presbyterian church of Detroit: Ladies Literary club of Highland Park, Red Cross chapter of Detroit, The past winter she had maintained a Red Cross booth in the Fisher building, selling thousands of dollars in war bonds and stamps. Surviving besides her husband are three children, Webster C. Evans of East Lansing, Mrs. Stanley Christensen of Trufant and Mrs. Don Lau of Springfield, Ind., five sisters, Mrs. Carrie West, Mrs. Nettie McGlinchey and Mrs. Will Dercuis of Muir, Mrs. Glen Sayer of Lansing and Mrs. Glen McLaren of Grand Rapids; one brother, Harry Conner, died in November 1943.
