The Ionia County News, Thursday, August 7, 1958
Alva E. Evans, 66, of Grattan Township, Kent County, died on Thursday, July 24 
at his home.  Born October 15, 1891 in Cheneyville, Illinois, he was the son 
of Edward and Sarah (Beaver) Evans.  On December 31, 1920 in Greenville he was 
married to Mabel C. Peterson.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel, three daughters, Mrs. Burnie (Maxine) DeSpelder 
of Greenville, Mrs. Lyle (Shirley) Russell of Belding, and Mrs. Jack (Nancy) 
Oberlin of Kalamazoo; one son, Rev. Lloyd E. Evans of Midland; two sisters, 
Mrs. Joseph Roush of Belding and Mrs. Floyd Demmon of Greenville; two 
brothers, William of Marne and Frank of Richmond; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, at the Huffman Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Harley D. Zull from Greenville officiating.  Interment was in the 
Oakfield Center Cemetery, Oakfield Township, Kent County.
