The Ionia Standard, Friday, February 3, 1888
Henry Evans died at his home in North Plains township last Sunday morning, at 
an advanced age.  His death takes another from the ranks of Ionia County’s 
pioneers.  He had been feeling the infirmities of age many years, for a long 
time not being able for the exertion necessary in riding to town.  He leaves a 
widow and several children.  His remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at 
North Plains church, on Tuesday, Rev. Geo. Ransom conducting the services.  
One by one our oldest and most valuable citizens are passing away.
