The notice of whose death was recently noted in the Ionia Daily Sentinel was at the home of her sister in Detroit when she passed away having gone there from Petoskey for more extended treatment and to be with her sister who could give her such loving care as well as her brother, who was often by her bedside during her periods of suffering which were intense but were borne with patience, she was anxious to regain her health. Life was very dear to her and the joy of living was truly a joy to her. Her home life during her vacations was mostly spent at home with her parents where her time and ever-willing hands were always ready to work for the comfort of those around her. Before going to Petoskey Miss Everest was a teacher nine years in Lyons. She is endeared to many friends there. She had a good memory and studious habits, therefore her mind was stored with useful knowledge. During her employment in the city schools of Petoskey which extended over a period of 24 years she learned to love them as her own people. She was very grateful for their kind treatment and sympathy for her after she was compelled by illness to leave her school duties and for their loving care during her stay in Petoskey before going to Detroit. Miss Everest will be missed by her many pupils, with them her influence has been far-reaching. She will be missed in social gatherings as well as conventions of other teachers and their societies. After going to Detroit she made many friends by her kindly ways and patience but her disease was not cured and gradually took her life. About 12 hours before she passed away she seemed to be sleeping or resting. A light shone around her and those who were near her felt they were in Divine presence. When she spoke she said, “I have had a vision and have seen God.” She rapidly failed and her earth life soon closed. Her remains were taken to her home where relatives and friends met to pay their last tribute of love and respect. Comforting words were spoken by Rev. Spencer of Ionia. She was taken to North Plains cemetery, her last resting place.
