Funeral services for Charles J. Everest, 78, who died at his home in Palo 
Sunday morning, September 6 at 10:45 o'clock after an illness of seven years, 
were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home in Palo. Rev. Davis of 
the Palo Methodist church officiated and burial was in Palo cemetery.

Pallbearers were Willard Knaggs, Marshall Everest, Lloyd Scott and Alfred 
Jeffers.

Born April 24, 1864, in Ronald township, he was the son of mr. and Mrs. 
Benjamin S.Everest, and had lived his entire life in that vacinity.  March 16, 
1889, he was married to Mary E. Knaggs of Montcalm county.  For thirteen years 
he operated a store in Palo known as the Charles J. Everest & Co general store.

He had been in poor health for the pasat seven years and had been confined to 
his bed for the past two years. He was a member of the Gleaners and of the 
Palo Methodist church.

He is survived by the widow, Mary; on son, Marshall, of Palo; a daughter, Mrs. 
Lloyd Scott of Fowlerville; three grandchildren.  A son, Benjamin J. Everest, 
died in 1925.
