Mary Calista Brown was born in Novi, Mich., nearly 80 years ago. She was married to Uriah Carpenter December 31, 1874, and came to Ronald the following spring and settled on the farm now owned by Joseph Comer, of Palo. Mr. Carpenter died about 20 years ago. Later Mrs. Carpenter was united in marriage to Mr. Everest, who died about a year ago. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, of Palo. Mrs. Everest was the last survivor of her own family of brothers and sisters. She leaves two sons, William Carpenter, of Palo, Bert Carpenter, of Easton, Mrs. Rosa Livingston, of Palo; Mrs. Mytie Neilson, of Palo , and Miss Ida Carpenter, of Ionia. The funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 sun time from the home of Mrs. Neilson, in Ronald, and from the Palo Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30. Rev. W. Holcomb, of Greenville, her former pastor, will officiate at the services. Burial will take place in the Palo cemetery.
