Ionia Sentinel Standard – Thursday, 13 December 1923
Frederick S. Everest, aged 88 years, and the last of a family of six children, 
died at the farm home four miles east of Ionia Wednesday at 3 o’clock in the 
afternoon after an illness of about three weeks.  Mr. Everest was born in Essex 
County, N.Y., and came to Ionia about 68 years ago.  He was a carpenter of 
trade and one of Michigan’s pioneers of the lumber business and at one time 
owned a sawmill at Nickle Plate.  He is survived by a widow, one son Dudley, 
with whom he made his home, a daughter, Miss Wilma, who teaches in Detroit.  
The funeral services will be held at the home in Ionia Township Friday at 1:30 
Central Standard Time.
