Daily Sentinel-Standard - Thursday, June 26, 1941

Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Everest, 87-year-old Lake Odessa resident, who 
died suddenly at her home Wednesday will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the 
Wortley-Baine funeral home in Lake Odessa. Rev. C. A. Brady of the Ionia Church 
of Christ will officiate and interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.

Mrs. Everest was born in New York state in November of 1853 and she came to 
Ionia with her parents when she was still a young woman. She married Charles 
Henry Everest, a Civil war veteran. Several years after his death she moved to 
Lake Odessa to be near her son, Harry, now deceased. She made her home in Ionia 
for about 40 years before moving to Lake Odessa.

Surviving are two sons, Herbert W. Everest of Detroit and Frederick S. Everest 
of Battle Creek: 10 grandchildren: nine great-grandchildren: and one sister, 
Mrs. Sarah Pratt, of Cleveland, O.

Mrs Everest was a member of the Ionia Church of Christ.
