Mrs. Face had been very ill 12 weeks and a week ago last Sunday was stricken with pneumonia, from which she failed to rally. Edith Budd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Budd, was born in Clinton county May 16, 1868, and with her parents moved to Albany, N. Y., where they spent two years on the Erie canal. When she was five years of age the family came to Homer and later located in Albion where she completed her high school education. On July 25, 1888 she became the bride of Alva D. Face of Orleans township, where she resided until her death November 10, 1939. Mr. Face’s death occurred January 1st, 1932. Mrs. Face had been an active worker in the social gatherings of the community. She was a member of the Orleans Community club, of Beatrice Rebekah lodge No. 100 of Ionia and Doric chapter, No. 75 of Belding. She united with the Church of Christ in Ionia several years ago, and her life exemplified her Christian character. She was a devoted mother and a good friend and neighbor. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Ernest Allen and son, Erme, at whose home she died, both of Orleans; also eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; besides many other relatives. The funeral services were held at the Orleans church Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock with Rev. H. S. Ellis of Belding officiating. Mrs. Myron Kennedy furnished the music. Members of the Orleans Community club and Beatrice Rebekah lodge attended in a body. Bearers were Earl and Alva Face, Maurice and Ernest Clements. Eldred Schultz and Elmer Olger. Honorary bearers were David Clawson, Byron Haskins, Fred Pitt, Frank Wood, Anson Ostrom and Clarence Dickerson. Interment was in the family lot in Orleans cemetery, under a wealth of beautiful flowers, a silent tribute from relatives and friends. Relatives attending from away came from Detroit, Grand Rapids, Homer, Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, St. Johns, Okemos and Belding.
